Sarah’s London Marathon
” When I was offered a London Marathon ballot place (after eight years of trying!) I decided that I would try and raise some much needed funds to support Monkey World and the Jim Cronin Memorial Fund. So on the 28th April 2019, I’ll lace up my trainers and set off around the iconic marathon.
Monkey World has, in it’s own way, been life-changing for me. My Mum has always loved primates, and her love of Monkey World is what first brought me to Dorset. The first time we visited, we could hear the gibbons singing and it was like they were welcoming us to the park.
I fell in love with Monkey World, and with Dorset, and two years ago I moved from the hustle and bustle of big city Birmingham life, to live by the sea. It was a leap of faith, but I’ve never been happier. I work with the NHS as a dietitian, have joined Poole Runners running club, and have taken up sea swimming. My husband and I make regular trips to the park to visit our adopted primates, and I never cease to be amazed and humbled by the fantastic work that is done by the team at Monkey World and the Jim Cronin Memorial Fund. I know running a marathon is a challenge, but I also know it’s nothing compared to the efforts that go in to protecting our world’s beautiful primates. I’m hoping that my endeavours might inspire people to donate to an incredibly worthwhile cause.”
